Generation Candyland: A Fable

Generation Candyland is a play filmed and premiered on Youtube in February 2021. Siblings Will and Kelsey have been living off the grid, battling their demons in a state of arrested development and isolation from the outside world, since their parents' mysteriously disappeared. When a stranger, Ben, arrives uninvited to tutor Kelsey, the younger of the pair, the siblings' fragile eco-system is challenged, and the two must decide whether to continue as they have or face the outside world.

Playing on the title “Candyland”, Abigail incorporate candy tones in the color palette of the two children, Kelsey & Will, highlighting their youngness and vulnerability. Ben, the only adult, is dark and somber and dressed to show that in color and rich wool textures. As Will continues to fall into a depressive spell, his clothing becomes gray to reflect his inner thoughts and apathetic feelings, while Kelsey dresses brighter throughout the show, and eventually she escapes her addiction and disorder.
